A Swoon-worthy Brunch Wedding on Catalina Island
The first time I went to Catalina, I thought I was going to die. Literally, it was a crazy windy day in LA and when I checked in at the port, they were advising people to not go because they may get stuck over there and have to spend the night due to high winds on the sea. I was meeting my clients, Haley + Tom, over there and we all decided to go for it anyway. As I headed out on the tiniest boat ever known to man, I had never been more sea sick in my life. The waves were probably 8 -10 feet tall and the boat was trying it’s hardest to get across the ocean while being mostly on it’s side half the way there. Once I thankfully landed on the island, I came to find out the bride and groom’s boat actually turned around because it was unsafe. In my head, I thought, well… I may be stuck here for a night, but I’m alive and things could have turned out worse. Despite my first time experience to Catalina, planning a brunch wedding on that beautiful island was incredible! Catalina Island weddings may be one of my favorite things.
Brunch Weddings
Have you ever thought about doing a brunch wedding? Most likely not, but let me tell you, I LOVED it! Haley + Tom wanted a weekend on the island with their family and friends because it had been a special place to Haley and her family growing up and boy they did it right! The two of them met while studying abroad, Haley from California and Tom from Australia. Over the years of long distance, they made it work and Tom was finally able to come to the U.S. and marry his love on the beautiful Island of Catalina.
They started the weekend out on Friday night with some time at the beach and then a welcome party at a rental house with their guests. The next morning, guests joined them at the Catalina Country Club for the exchanging of their vows followed by a stellar brunch accompanied by Mimosas, french toast, desserts and dancing! I’ve never seen a group of people tear up the dance floor in the middle of the afternoon like their crew did! The wedding festivities ended around 4:30pm and then guests could meet up with everyone again later for drinks and dinner at a local restaurant by the ocean. Nothing is better than celebrating your wedding day than being on an island in the middle of the pacific ocean surrounded by your loved ones celebrating your wedding day.
