Good City Mentors Proves Your $5 Coffee Could Change Someone’s Life
Do you ever think, “I should really stop swinging by Starbucks every morning of the week for that $5 latte?” It can really add up. Well what if I told you that $5 from the week could change someone’s life? Let me share with you how the simple act of giving up coffee for a week can make a difference! I want to tell you about a nonprofit called Good City Mentors.
About Good City Mentors
After a trip to Haiti in 2014, I decided that my business had to do good. That’s why at the heart of Feathered Arrow, we give back to a nonprofit with every client we work with. I believe that business should impact and change the world for the better, so why not do that together. This year, I’m taking it further with an organization that I volunteer for weekly by helping their huge fundraiser. Meet Good City Mentors: A nonprofit that provides inspiring mentorship for at-risk high school youth. They positively impact student engagement, achievement, and graduation rates.
Over the last 2 years I have been a mentor with them at a school in Crenshaw, CA. I’ve seen first hand how the lives of these students have dramatically changed, simply by having someone positive in their life who shows up on a consistent basis, supports them, listens to them, and believes in them. Graduation rates for these kids have doubled and I’m proud to have a mentee who just graduated this summer! She’s even going to college, although the odds were against her. That’s Brittany below!
The Facts and Statistics
Now in comes the giving back part. I’m partnering with my friends and family to sponsor a student to give them mentorship for the upcoming year. The cost of this is only $2,000 when in comparison, in California, it is estimated to cost $46 billion annually for dropouts. It costs taxpayers $233,600 per year to incarcerate ONE youth. We CAN CHANGE this by having the funds and the ability to allow more volunteers to go into schools across the city and provide mentorship for these kids.
The Campaign
I’d be so grateful if you’d consider giving to the campaign to help me sponsor a student for the year. Whether it’s $5, $10, $50 or $100 or more. I’d greatly appreciate anything you’re able to afford so I can reach my goal of $2,000. You can give up that week of Starbucks coffee or one less dinner out this week with friends to help change a kid’s life forever. You can click HERE to donate! I’m almost halfway to my goal and I hope that you feel inspired to be a part of changing a student’s life for the better. These kids are our future, our next generation of leaders! I believe that they are destined for greatness.

Thanks for leaning in and learning more about my heart of giving back and serving others through my business. As Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it is the only that ever has.”
