My top 5 books to inspire your entrepreneurial spirit
This past year has been a big year of growth for Feathered Arrow. I am so proud of how far I’ve come but I know that I still have so much more I want to accomplish in my work. I wanted to share some of the books I read this past year that really helped me push past some of my own limitations and take huge leaps forward in my business. There’s no end to how many books have been written on the subject of success but, these were my top favorite inspirational books for young entrepreneurs.
“Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert

I was first turned into this book after reading “Eat, Pray, Love” and let me tell you, this book did not disappoint. As someone who has a million ideas a minute running through my head, this book was a dream find. I mean the cover art alone made me want to go splash paint on a canvas. It speaks directly to the creative mindset of entrepreneurs and was an empowering boost of confidence to trust your artistry.
“You Are A Badass” and “You Are A Badass at Making Money” by Jen Sincero

This is your blunt best friend in book form. When you need someone to just tell it to you straight, you will find it here. No fluff, just real business and life advice served with a glass of humor to wash it down. I found these books to be incredibly motivating. I saw Jen Sincero in person speak at WeWork this past year about You Are A Badass at Making Money and let me tell you, she’s just as inspiring and hilarious in person as she is in her books. She gives you tangible steps that you can take towards becoming the most badass version of yourself and to be the most badass version of yourself making lots of money.
“The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck” by Mark Manson

Very similar to the above, this book is a no-excuses, reality check that not everything in life and business is cupcakes and rainbows. As entrepreneurs know very well, there’s a handful of disappointments we have to deal with on a daily basis. It can be difficult to navigate but this book honestly helped me to learn how to effectively separate business from personal experiences and to draw boundaries around what is most important to me and what isn’t serving me well at all. Because at the end of the day, we are running a business or just trying to live the best life we can and we need to decide how we want to prioritize better values, choose better things to give a f*ck about so that we can begin to live a life we care about and a good one at that.
“Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis

Between her podcast, books, blog, and straight up honest truth giving, Rachel Hollis is a fearless entrepreneur. She is chasing all of her creative dreams and making them a reality. This book shares a lot of her own personal struggles and its influence on her career. It was raw, emotional and such an inspiring read of how one can overcome obstacles while pursuing their dreams. She inspires us all to better than we were the day before, to wake up and keep promises to yourself, and to go after your dreams, because if you don’t care about your dreams, no one else will. She serves up some hard truth every day but for me, that’s exactly what I need to get motivated and inspired.
“Braving the Wilderness” by Brené Brown

Saved my girl crush for last: Dr. Brené Brown. Seriously, anything that Brené Brown touches is gold. If I could have dinner with one person, it would be her. Her research on various social issues is awe inspiring and digs deeper than any other person I know. This book was the warm hug I needed as an entrepreneur, female and human. It’s true what they say, you can’t pour from an empty cup. This book filled me with so much validation that I am enough. We all want to belong and be seen but sometimes we have to brave things alone to come out on the other side stronger. Seriously, run – don’t walk, to read this book.
No matter where you are in your business or in life, these books are sure to resonate! Here’s to a great 2019 and being more inspired than ever before!
