I’m so excited to share this incredibly fun Joshua Tree wedding of Kimberly + Jonathan from last year! They were married at Tumbleweed Sanctuary, a new favorite venue of mine. (I wrote more about Tumbleweed and other Joshua Tree wedding venues here if you want to check it out). And I have to say, Kimberly + Jonathan’s wedding only solidified my love for the desert (despite all the wind)!
A Disco in the Desert
In our initial call, Kimberly + Jonathan told me they just wanted to throw a really dope party and that sealed the deal for me! I was 100% on board with their vision! They wanted the design of the wedding to be simple but also bring in some funky vibes inspired by Studio 54 for the reception. Therefore, we relied on the natural desert landscape of cacti, succulents and historic Joshua Trees to keep that simplicity. In fact, the only additional floral for the event was a bridal bouquet for Kim. The ceremony was outside under an incredible wooden art installation that we enhanced with a colorful rug. During the ceremony, Kimberly + Jonathan decided to not have a traditional wedding party.
One thing to consider with a Joshua Tree wedding is the wind. The wind was pretty crazy on the day but, to keep things simple, Kim hand painted large monstera leaves as centerpieces that we put down the long farm tables as décor. For dinner, guests were stoked to eat the most delicious wood fire pizzas. The whole day was beautiful, however, the real party was during dancing. Guests moved inside and were greeted by fun features including disco balls, disco pens and neon signs. Everyone was on the dance floor grooving the night away! I’d say we accomplished one dope party for this rad couple.
Congrats Kim + Jonathan! You threw one of the coolest parties ever!
