An Al Fresco Wedding at the Valley Hunt Club

A taste of Italy in Pasadena

I love when couples use their travel experiences to influence their weddings. I’ve had couples infuse a Paris theme and a travel themed wedding and it’s always so fun to experience their adventures second hand through the wedding design. This couple, Francine + Robert did the same after they traveled to the small town of Positano in Italy. It was such a magical trip that they knew they wanted guests to feel like they stepped into a dreamy Italian café with an al fresco wedding.

Francine + Robert wanted their wedding to feel warm and comforting for all guests but also make sure that they felt like they were dining under the stars in Italy. They chose the ultra exclusive venue, The Valley Hunt Club to host their nuptials. Nestled in beautiful Pasadena, this historic venue has a beautiful outdoor space that allowed guests an open air dining experience and dancing which later moved inside to the ballroom to keep the party going. Francine is Colombian, so she knew her family would want to dance the night away. To immerse guests into an Italian experience, we used blue and white linens from La Tavola and added live various citrus fruit for pops of additional color. The whole color palate felt fresh and bright. For the tables at reception, we used villages along the Almafi Coast instead of table numbers. And of course, no Italian al fresco wedding would be complete without an aperol spritz specialty cocktail for guests to sip on.

The little details

I’m absolutely in love with the personalized emblem they created for the two of them. We added the watercolor mark on the cocktail napkins, menus, match books and even embroidered on their personal dinner napkins. It was a tiny detail that pulled the whole design together.
