Advice Newly Engaged Couples Need To Hear
Are you newly engaged and wondering what the heck to do now? First off, congrats! It’s time to celebrate! But when it’s time to start planning don’t get overwhelmed, because I’m sharing 5 tips about next steps after getting that shiny ring put on your finger by the one you love! Everyone needs some engagement advice from the pros so let’s dive in below and get started. We think you’ll enjoy these tips below:
Enjoy the Season
Enjoy this season of being newly engaged! Don’t start the planning process immediately. Take a couple weeks or a month to celebrate with friends and family and soak in the goodness of being able to marry your best friend!
Sit Down As A Couple
Sit down as a couple and talk about the type of wedding you want, just the two of you. Talk about when you want to get married, what you want from the big day, what your budget looks like, who’s going to pay for the wedding, etc. Once you come to a mutual decision on a date or a couple of dates (until you find a venue) and what you want your big day to look like, then chat with your family and/or your parents if they are involved.
Set a Date
Set a date that works for you! (If need be, consult with your closest family and friends that you can’t live without them there!) But at the end of the day, don’t ask too many people. No one needs to many cooks in the kitchen to decide on a wedding date.
Hire A Wedding Planner
Hire a wedding planner! The best thing I tell newly engaged couples is to hire someone to help throughout the process; whether it’s basic planning, partial or a full service wedding planner. You don’t want your maid of honor or mom running around, stressed out, trying to make your day perfect. A wedding planner will provide more resources than you ever thought possible. Additionally, we handle everything leading up to to and on the day. What’s better than hiring someone that knows the industry really well and has a lot of connections? They save you hours of searching for the best venues and the very best vendors!
Find a venue!
Sometimes your wedding date is dependent on your venue, so don’t get too set on a specific date until you finalize your venue. Be sure to ask a lot of questions: if they have any restrictions on noise or number of guests, mandatory vendors, etc. Also ask about additional costs and get a breakdown. Nothing is worse than additional fees that blows your budget. This is a great opportunity to bring along your wedding coordinator or ask them for advice on what you should be asking the venue. They may also have a ton of great recommendations. (Because let’s be honest there are a ton of great venues out there!)
