Celebrating Love at Maravilla Gardens
As a planner, there are certain weddings that I can’t stop thinking about long after the night is over and the wedding of Kendall + Stevie at Maravilla Gardens is the perfect example. Stevie is a professional tennis player and Kendall is a former volleyball player with USC and a photographer (If you’re familiar with tennis, you know the scoring starts as “love:love”, which is perfect for a wedding, right?) I worked with Kendall + Stevie for almost a year and a half but from the start, it was like planning a wedding for close friends. Kendall gave me so much freedom in designing their big day and I had so much fun taking on the task. This celebration was packed with incredible decor, an adorable ring-dog named Chubbs and even a surprise visit from the USC marching band for the bride and groom + their guests!
Dreamy Details
I worked with one of my favorites, Paige of Hue Creative to come up with jaw dropping pieces. We wanted to try something new and incorporate velvet! Using blush and burgundy as the color theme, Paige and I designed a velvet welcome sign and a hand lettered bar menu. We alternated between blush and burgundy for the table numbers, menu cards and other signage, like the adorable “hold your sweet tooth” dessert sign. Paige gathered a lot of her inspiration from the streets of Barcelona last Fall which helped us to draw in the feelings of elegance and an old Spanish feel. My favorite piece, a luxurious, burgundy dip-dyed, hanging velvet seating chart! It turned out better than I ever imagined!
Laura of Poppyhill Flowers helped set the scene with incredible florals with pops of deep burgundy, blush, peach and orange. Since Kendall and Stevie were getting married at a garden estate, we wanted the flowers to make a statement while complimenting the venue. The ceremony arch was accented with one of my favorite elements: flower hoops. We later moved the hoops to be the backdrop behind the sweetheart table at the reception to be cohesive. For the reception tables, we added a mix of flowers and mixed potted greenery for the centerpieces to give everything a fresh feel.
