5 Tips To Planning Your Company Retreat or Party

How To Make Your Company Retreat or Party Memorable

While Feathered Arrow is very much my company, as any entrepreneur will tell you, it takes a village to make it happen friends. I have been fortunate enough to gather some incredible team members to make every wedding run smoothly and effortlessly! I’m a big advocate of giving back to my team to show them how much I appreciate all of their hard work in making Feathered Arrow a business I am proud of. If you’re an entrepreneur thinking of showing your team a little love, I’ve put together a list of 5 tips that will help make your company retreat or party a hit amongst your staff!

Include a morale building activity

include a team building activity in your company retreat or party

A company retreat or party is not only to celebrate the achievements as a brand, it’s to also help build the morale and trust amongst your staff. It doesn’t have to be the stereotypical trust falls you hear about in movies. This can be as simple as asking each team member to share one fact the others may not know about them. Anything that can allow you to prove you care who they are as individuals and allowing a safe space to share more authentically and get to know one another outside of our job titles.

Pick a fun location

choose a fun location for your company retreat or party

Choosing a fun restaurant or city to host your company retreat or party is a great way to get your staff (and yourself) to bond. It’s a chance to get into a new environment and break out of your routine! It’ll help make new, exciting memories and you’ll build a positive association to the place you choose.

Budget Appropriately

use your budget wisely while planning your company retreat or party

Every business size is different, so be sure you know what you can take on financially for your company retreat or party. In my opinion, you want to spoil your team a bit, but figure out what that looks like for you.  Even a small gift shows your appreciation! Make sure they know how special and important they are by spending your budget wisely.

Go during the off-season

choose an off-season time to plan your company retreat or party

This is two fold – meaning you can decide to travel during off-seasons to save money but also, go during a time when your company isn’t as hectic. As a wedding planner, we’re booked pretty much every weekend, but there is definitely a “wedding season” where things are particularly busy. Choose a time when things are slower so you and your staff aren’t stressed about any pending deadlines or emails. You can just be present and enjoy the celebration as a team!

Remind them of your WHY

I think is one of the most important things to have in your company retreat or party. It goes hand in hand with morale, but reminding your team of your purpose and drive as a company serves as inspiration to why they are so necessary to your business. If you aren’t clear about your why as an entrepreneur, then it will be hard for people to champion you. Give your team the motivation to bring their best to the table every day and allow them to share their “why” as well.

Now go celebrate your hard work because we all deserve to celebrate even the smallest of accomplishments!
