This Refined Malibu Wedding Had An Unsuspecting Décor Element

We’re back at one of our favorite spots, Calamigos Ranch, for a wedding that truly was magazine worthy. For Maral and Michael’s wedding, we wanted to keep the design minimal yet romantic. It was a balance to keep things feeling refined but not stiff, however, by using a delicate, non-traditional wedding flower, we were able to create a soft and modern feel.

Bringing Back Baby’s Breath

Baby’s breath can be polarizing, and is usually considered “just a filler”, but I have to say, this wedding design solidified my love for it. This small flower is not only cost effective, but also can make a big impact when bundled. Keeping the florals all white gave the design intention and created a great base for other elements (for more all white floral ideas, check out my own destination wedding.) When paired against the rock wall and waterfall in the backdrop, the acrylic tiers overflowing with baby’s breath looked like Maral and Michael were standing on a cloud during their vows. It was so ethereal and gave the wow-factor we were after.

For the reception, we repeated the baby’s breath arrangements and added a dark green table runner to give movement and contrast to each table. Using wooden table numbers complimented the famous statement window in the Calamigo’s Ranch Oak Room. I also love the stone signs on the welcome table. They were such a small detail but added amazing texture to the table.

Congrats Michael and Maral! If you missed their rehearsal dinner, you can check out photos here!
