Inspiration For Non-Traditional Holiday Décor
Happy holidays, friends! For the past few years, I’ve participated in the annual Holiday Home Tours fundraiser with Sandpipers 1931. Sandpipers 1931 is a volunteer organization that helps communities throughout the South Bay area of California with philanthropic programs. Every year, they host a Holiday Home Tour where event designers such as myself will decorate a house with all the twinkle and tinsel the holiday season requires. People can buy tickets to tour these homes and the money goes towards some of the causes Sandpipers 1931 supports. It’s a really awesome organization and one of the keystones of Feathered Arrow Events is giving back to the community so I was honored to participate! This year, I collaborated with one of my favorite floral designers, Inessa Nichols Design to bring a non-traditional holiday decor vision to life.
Using Non-Traditional Holiday Colors
It was really important to me that we take holiday décor to a fresh, sophisticated level. Additionally, we wanted to show people how they could decorate their homes for the Holidays in a less traditional way. You won’t see any inflatable lawn decorations here! Using deep, rich colors including blues, reds and greens, we also incorporated soft gold tones for balance. Then we embraced neutral tones but made sure there were elements that added texture, like pampas grass and pinecones. In addition, we included some surprise fruit elements to keep things smelling and looking delicious. We really played into the Spanish Colonial architecture of the home as well! It’s impossible to pick a favorite part, I just love how it all came together. And if you want to see our “How To Video” to decorate your home for the Holidays, grab a ticket and tour the homes virtually!
I hope you enjoy the decorations as much as I do! When you’re decking your halls this holidays this season, don’t be afraid to embrace some non-traditional holiday décor, add different colors, textures, like velvet and add in different kinds of florals! Have some fun with it! Huge thank you to the vendors for working with me on this fun project for such a good cause.
