An Urban Canopy Of Trees Created The Perfect Wedding Venue

While Shanti + Dan were planning their big day, Shanti’s parents graciously offered their home as the wedding venue. However, this wasn’t going to be a typical “backyard” wedding. Shanti had always loved the rows of beautiful trees on the street in front of their house and knew that would be the perfect place to say their vows. We worked with the city and neighbors to acquire the necessary permits and permissions, closed off the street and gave Shanti + Dan their dream wedding under an urban canopy of trees!  

You may have guessed from their venue choice, Shanti + Dan are the type of couple who aren’t afraid to break the mold. Not only did they self-officiate their own wedding, but Dan wore a favorite recent trend of mine: colorful suit jackets! I am all for a classic black suit, but I especially love seeing the variety of suits popping up, such as Dan’s pink ensemble. Whether it’s a bold color, style or material like this groom’s velvet jacket, I’m all for groom’s finding a special outfit that makes them feel like a million bucks!

I also have to talk about Shanti’s bridal bouquet made of dried florals! We’ve shared ways to make your wedding more eco-friendly before, but this is another great example. By using dried florals for your bouquet and other arrangements, your florist can shop off season, and can potentially even use left-over flowers so nothing goes to waste. However, be sure to express an interest in dried florals early on in your planning. It can take a while to properly dry the foliage, and as always, discuss with your florist what they would recommend using. Not all flowers will work for this look!
