A Glittery New Year’s Eve Wedding With Dinosaurs
Here at Feathered Arrow, we sure do love a non-traditional wedding. So when my clients, Andrea + Mike, told me they wanted to get married at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, I was so excited! Then when they said they wanted to have a New Year’s Eve wedding so they could essentially have a giant NYE party with all of their friends and family, I was like, “Yes! Let’s do that!”
It’s a little-known secret in Los Angeles that The Natural History Museum is available for weddings and events. In fact, we’ve had the pleasure of planning this contemporary wedding there also. The Natural History Museum is a stunning piece of architecture filled with so many amazing exhibits. Not only is it a unique venue space for couples, but entertainment for your guests is literally built in.
Intentional Party Design
We wanted the design to feel festive for New Year’s Eve, but not take away from the wedding. Andrea wore a champagne + blush colored two-piece wedding dress, with a lace bodice and tulle skirt. Additionally, she asked her bridesmaids to pick sparkly champagne, gold and pink dresses to coordinate with her dress. Mike and the groomsmen all came dressed to the nines in matching black tuxedos. We kept the floral arrangements dark and moody with pampas grass and cattails to add organic textures. It fit right in with the exhibits surrounding guests at dinner. Each table was then topped with black, white + gold dinner place settings. Guests could find their seat with the gold animal place cards. It was so elegant, and yet guests were able to enjoy cocktails with a pair of Tyrannosaurus Rex and dinner with mammoths. However, since this is a wedding on New Year’s Eve, we had to include ways to celebrate at midnight! Andrea + Mike supplied their guests with hats, glasses, fringe horns, kazoos, etc. When the live band counted down, the electric energy was palpable as Mike + Andrea’s friends + family partied to the early morning. This wedding was such a blast and I can’t wait to plan more NYE weddings just like this one (hopefully soon!)
