A Union Station Wedding Celebration

Union Station Wedding, traditional Indian wedding, bride and groom at ceremony arch

All Aboard! For A Jaw Dropping Wedding Of Fun and Dance

Last week, I shared Lua + Chetan’s Sangeet so this week, I’m sharing their Union Station wedding! It was my first Union Station wedding and I love the space so much! (I wrote about this space with some of my other favorite LA wedding venues here). It’s a stunning building from 1939 and is boasted as one of the “last great train stations”. It’s impossible not to feel the history when you step into this place. Over the past few years, they opened the space up for events. It’s design is a mixture of art deco and Spanish colonial and was the perfect backdrop for Lua + Chetan’s wedding.

If you’re familiar with traditional Indian weddings, there is a collection of different events ahead of the wedding. And one of my favorites is the baraat. It’s a large processional for the groom and his family and it’s filled with music and dance as they make their way to the ceremony space! Chetan and his family paraded through the platform area of Union Station and it was such a blast because it was also open to the public.

For the ceremony, we set up in an outside courtyard of Union Station just before sunset. I have to gush about the beautiful floral arrangements by Inessa Nichols Design for this wedding. It’s jaw dropping! (Inessa made another showstopper of a ceremonial arch for this downtown wedding). For Lua + Chetan, we created a large floral arch with a mix of bright and soft pinks, orange tones and greenery. Additionally, it matched the large bloom bridal bouquet for Lua and her bridesmaids. The best part is that it was free of floral foam so it created less waste at the end of the night.

From bright + colorful to chic + classic

For the reception, everyone moved inside into Union Station where we switched the design from bold and bright, to elegant and classic. We used all white floral centerpieces and candles at every table. The biggest pop of color was the circle arch behind the sweetheart table that tied the ceremony into the reception. We repurposed a lot of what was on the ceremony arch to create a new installation behind Lua + Chetan. (One of my biggest tips is to always repurpose your wedding florals where you can!)

I’m so in love with how this wedding came together! Huge thanks to Lua + Chetan and their families for letting me celebrate this big day with them!
