This Forest Inspired Wedding Was A Lot Closer To LA Than You Think

I love going on adventures with my couples for their wedding venues. It’s been so exciting exploring places around SoCal like this wedding in Big Bear. This beautiful wedding was located in the hillside of Topanga Canyon, The 1909 is a hidden gem of a venue. You can barely tell you’re still in Los Angeles because it feels so tranquil and secluded. I love this space so much and it was perfect for Claire + Jacob’s romantic forest inspired wedding!

Claire + Jacob’s ceremony was outside on a patio with a beautiful view of Topanga Canyon. Fun fact, one of the bridesmaids was the officiant! Claire + Jacob exchanged vows under a natural birch chuppah. Afterwards, guests enjoyed cocktail hour and reception on the lawn. Everywhere guests turned, we wanted a small detail fit for the forest inspired wedding. We displayed the seating chart in pieces of wood. Additionally, to enhance the nature around us, we draped the wooden farm reception tables in long, green, cheesecloth table runners. Then, every table was topped with a small, wooden tree slice with an engraved table number, and an all white and green floral centerpiece with branches. The whole event felt like you were dining in enchanted woods. After dinner, everyone moved indoors for an amazing and fun dance party.

Repurposing Decor Post Wedding

One thing I really loved about this wedding was the details. Instead of a traditional card box, Claire + Jacob used a picnic basket that they found at a flea market that will be perfect for future picnics in the woods. It was such a sweet touch and I love how it can be repurposed throughout their marriage and remind them of their big day!
