This Malibu Wedding Took Design Notes From Seasonal Citrus
When you think of a “citrus inspired wedding”, you might picture bright lemons, oranges and lush greenery in the summertime, such as this al-fresco wedding. However, once autumn rolls around, there is a difference in those citrus tones. Think kumquats, pomelo, blood oranges and grapefruit that are all still biting in taste, but different in color scheme. For our clients, Christine + Isaac, we combined those muted fall hues of orange, red and pops of yellow throughout the design. And I have to say, I’m absolutely in love with it!
Using Bold Fall Colors
For the ceremony, we used two floral installations that arched without completing a circle. This allowed us to frame Christine + Isaac, while also letting the beauty of the venue shine in the background. The reception tables were long wooden farm tables with rust colored table runners with matching napkins and woven chargers. Finally, dried blood orange slices were placed on each setting as an accent. The chargers were handmade by the bride and her friends too and they turned out so good! One of my favorite elements was the escort board. We hung personalized envelopes in a rust red color that not only listed guests’ table numbers, but also included a handwritten letter from the bride + groom. What a perfect way to combine a guest favor with a functional element of the wedding design!
Finally, let’s talk about how well this wedding party coordinated their attire! Christine + Isaac wanted their co-ed wedding party to choose their own wardrobe in the color scheme. Christine’s wedding party wore a mixed variety of outfits in shades of blush and merlot while Isaac’s wedding party chose green hues. They absolutely nailed it!
