You’ll Never Guess All The Surprises During This DTLA Rain Themed Wedding!
They say rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, so when my couple Ann Marie and Peter told me rain was the a key factor for their wedding design because it had a lot of meaning to them throughout their relationship, I knew it was going to be magical! Their traditional ceremony was held at a Cathedral and then everyone transitioned to the cocktail hour and reception space at The Majestic Downtown. (For more multiple venue inspiration, check out this wedding.) This venue is so cool and full of stories! This 100-year-old building is an architectural masterpiece and preserves its history as a former bank by allowing guests to party in the vault. Complete with glass floors that showcase bars of gold and money. What sealed the deal was light fixtures that are adorned with hanging droplet-like pearls, making Ann Marie + Peter’s rain themed wedding a perfect fit and Ann Marie loved pearls and wanted them incorporated.
Bringing The Rain Indoors
Since the wedding was hosted indoors, we wanted to find a way to tie into the theme. Ann Marie and Peter told me they envisioned a cloud in their design, so we decided to make it into a statement piece behind the sweetheart table. With a team of vendors, we created a giant cloud completely out of flowers then strung multiple pearls to make it look like it was actively raining. It was absolutely stunning and one of my favorite pieces we’ve created! Additionally, Ann Marie and Peter had a custom-made bride and groom silhouette created with an umbrella that was not only on guest favors at each table but also projected in a light display above the sweetheart table. This was a nod to their proposal as Ann Marie had an umbrella because it was raining when Peter proposed. Another favorite detail was adding a smoke machine to their first dance gave the illusion they were dancing on a cloud. So romantic!
Guest Experiences
Ann Marie and Peter wanted their wedding to be an opportunity to spoil their guests. This was a very large guest count so multiple guest experiences were brought in to accommodate everyone. Not only did they have the usual photobooth, but a fun 360 photobooth experience, but they also hired a live artist to create caricatures of guests as part of their favors. Additionally, we hired professional dancers to entertain guests (complete with one dance that included umbrellas to tie in the theme). We also had 4 old school phones where guests could leave voicemail messages for the couple and lastly, late-night snacks were available for guests to fuel the dance party late into the evening including an espresso coffee cart.
Congrats to Ann Marie and Peter on your beautiful rain themed wedding! If you love DTLA as much as we do, check out these other wedding venues. Contact us on our homepage here and we’ll set up walk-throughs to find your perfect spot!
