4 Ways To Make Valentine’s Day Special (Even In Quarantine)
Happy February, friends! Isn’t it crazy to think how much has changed from last Valentine’s Day? For most of us, Valentine’s Day 2020 was the last holiday before a major lockdown shook our worlds. Now that the day of love is upon us once more, I wanted to share some ideas to celebrate a Quarantine Valentine’s Day!
Bake Dessert Together
Baking is one of my favorite ideas for a fun date night! Or even just with a few of your friends. It’s so fun to be in the kitchen working together and you can even pretend you’re starring in your own cooking show. You can choose whatever level of difficulty of dessert you feel comfortable with. Try something complex like a soufflé, or as easy a cookie. My personal favorite is a donut. And the best part is that after your hard work, you can enjoy the delicious fruits of your labor! (For some dessert ideas, check out this wedding dessert post).
Ditch Grocery Store Flowers

Let me start by saying, there is absolutely nothing wrong with grocery store flowers. However, this past year has been so difficult on small businesses, this Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to shop small and really wow your date with a custom arrangement! Contact local florists to deliver something special that you can enjoy well beyond Valentine’s Day! (If you’re in LA, we love Iris & Barry Blooms shop, or you can check out Inessa Nichol’s pop up shop at Salud Juice!)
Double Quarantine Date
Hear me out. Normally, I would suggest Valentine’s Day be for just you + your special loved one. Or perhaps even a small gathering of your closet guy or gal pals. But let’s be honest; we’ve spent so much time this past year away from all of our friends + family, any holiday is a chance to celebrate together. (Safely, of course). Consider inviting another couple, or some friends to a virtual trivia night or to a virtual cocktail making class. It’ll be good for the soul to connect with not only your date, but also some of your dearest friends.
Change Perspectives
Feeling uninspired by your date-nights at home? Mix things up a little and take your date night to another place in your house! Sure, you’ve watched Netflix together on your couch night after night. But consider renting a projector and viewing a movie on your garage door cuddled up with blankets and cocoa. Instead of dinner at the dining table, make a picnic on the floor of your bedroom with pillows and blankets. Changing up the routine can make things feel fresh + new!
I hope these ideas to celebrate your Quarantine Valentine’s Day helps! PS If you’re looking for some ideas for last minute Valentine’s Day gifts, I’ve got a list here, or you can shop our small business guide here! Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
