This Beautiful Understated Wedding Features A Church Ceremony to Reception Venue Transition
This year, something I’ve realized in wedding trends is that couples are embracing the bold maximalist look, or sticking to a classic minimalist vibe; there is no in-between. There is something so fun and refreshing about a wedding bursting with color and elements. On the flip side, décor that is stripped down to the necessities allows the connection to be more of the focus. Personally, I’m here for all of it! I appreciate the pressure of what is “supposed to happen” at weddings has eased into what do couples want for their wedding. So, when Oliva + Andrew told me they wanted a traditional understated wedding, I was all about it!
Minimal Yet Modern Wedding Decor
When creating a minimal, yet modern design, the choices need to be very intentional. Olivia + Andrew knew their ceremony was to take place in a church. Which meant that their outdoor wedding reception was the center of design. Each table had crisp white linens with long strands of eucalyptus down the center + tea candles to add ambience. We used modern cafe chairs instead of traditional “chiavari” chairs. The wedding cake was a classic one-tier cake with simple “just married” written in frosting on top, rather than a cake with fondant and a cake topper. We also included a customized neon sign above the cake table. Andrew and his groomsmen all wore black tuxedo suits while the bridesmaids wore trendy warm grey/beige satin dresses in mix matched styles. Lastly, Olivia’s minimalist corseted wedding dress was the epitome of grace! It was a calm, beautiful evening filled with love!
