Our Favorite Wedding Venues In The Heart Of LA
Hey friends! Welcome back to my series of wedding venues around the Los Angeles area. If you’re new here, so far we’ve covered venues in DTLA and Malibu. So get ready for our list of unique (and historic!) wedding venues in the heart of LA, including Culver City + Mid-Wilshire area. Below are some of our favorite places to tie the knot:
Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is such a fun venue for both the couple and the guests. How often do you get to have dinner with dinosaurs? Entertainment is covered as guests are allowed to explore and see the exhibits after hours while you and your spouse take photos. I can’t wait to return to this space! Check out this contemporary reception we did there, as well as this New Years Eve wedding we did.
Ebell of Los Angeles
The Ebell of Los Angeles is a historical staple of Los Angeles. Founded in 1894, the organization was created as a women’s club. According to their website, the clubhouse and theatre were built in 1927 and has been a longstanding beacon of women empowerment. The Ebell also boasts that Judy Garland was discovered here, and has served as a set for some favorite movies and tv shows. If you’re looking for a venue that serves the community, look no further. (Please note, this is not to be confused with Ebell Long Beach).
SmogShoppe

We’ve talked about so many of the venues within the Marvimon family in the DTLA venue post (including this stunner at the Grass Room!) but if you’re looking to stay on the westside, SmogShoppe is an incredible choice. It has all the quirk you love about other Marvimon venues, with an open-concept layout that provides a seamless indoor/outdoor experience. Bonus points, according to their website it’s “one of the most sustainably designed urban spaces both in Los Angeles and the United States”. Calling all eco-friendly brides and grooms! This space is for you!
Playa Studios
Playa Studios is a new event space to us but based on the pictures, I can already tell it’s a must see. It has so many modern, DTLA industrial-loft vibes, but in the heart of Culver City. If you want a space that comes with it’s own unique aesthetic, this is a great spot!
Culver Hotel
I would be remiss if I didn’t include this legendary gem in the mix! Best for smaller guest counts, this Parisian-style boutique hotel can accommodate up to 100 people. However, I love that guests can stay in the hotel as well, making getting to your wedding a breeze. Fun fact: cast of Wizard of Oz stayed at the Culver Hotel back in the day while filming commenced down the street!
El Rey Theatre

If you and your partner love concerts and live music, a wedding at El Rey is the ticket. This concert venue has been around since 1936 and maintains a stunning art-deco appeal. You can be the rock stars of your wedding with your ceremony on the stage. Or bring in a live band to do what they do best and entertain guests during reception! (For ideas on how to incorporate your love of music into your wedding, check out this festival themed wedding!)
